Lower Elementary Teacher

Overview of Position

The Saklan school is currently seeking a Lower Elementary teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Candidates must be fluent in progressive educational theory and practices, be culturally competent, and have previous classroom teaching experience. We are seeking reliable, adaptable candidates with a nurturing and supportive approach to students.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide differentiated, varied classroom instruction using a multi-modal and project-based learning approaches
Provide clear performance objectives that will be widely understood by students, parents, and administrators alike
Facilitate the social, emotional, and academic development of students through the Responsive Classroom model
Develop and implement a variety of student assessment methods that will consistently and continuously provide a basis for evaluating progress
Coordinate with the Lower School Dean to deliver academic and social-emotional support for students
Contribute to the community beyond the classroom
Communicate with families and staff in a timely and professional manner

Qualifications and Skills

The successful candidate will have the following characteristics and skill set:

At least two years of exemplary lower school classroom teaching experience and a valid teaching qualification
Understanding of project-based learning
A visible love and respect for children
Experience in designing and teaching an integrated curriculum
Experience in adapting curriculum to different learning styles
A team player with colleagues and parents
A good listener and communicator
A good sense of humor
Comfortable with the use of technology

Substitute Teacher

Overview of the Position
Substitute teachers are needed at all levels. Assignments can vary from single day substitutions to multiple day assignments.

Qualifications
Substitute teachers must have a background in education and/or experience in working with school age children. A valid teaching qualification is preferred and substitutes working with preschool students should have completed the 12 core semester units of the ECE curriculum (Child Development, Family and Community). All candidates must meet State Licensing requirements which include Live Scan Fingerprinting, current TB clearance and health report. We are seeking candidates who are reliable, adaptable and have a nurturing and supportive tone with students.
