Substitute Teacher

Overview of the Position

Substitute teachers are needed at all levels.  Assignments can vary from single day substitutions to multiple day assignments.


Substitute teachers must have a background in education and/or experience in working with school age children. A valid teaching qualification is preferred and substitutes working with preschool students should have completed the 12 core semester units of the ECE curriculum (Child Development, Family and Community). All candidates must meet State Licensing requirements which include Live Scan Fingerprinting, current TB clearance and health report. We are seeking candidates who are reliable, adaptable and have a nurturing and supportive tone with students.

Part-Time Extended Day Teacher

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the students enrolled in the program
  • Provide a range of age and ability appropriate programs and activities for students in K-8th grade (programming can include, but is not limited to homework supervision, athletic and recreational activities)
  • Clean up of activities and snack
  • Working cooperatively with staff and parents
  • Other related duties as specified


  • AA/BA preferred
  • Able to meet State Licensing requirement: Live Scan Fingerprinting, current TB clearance and health report, CPR and First Aide training

Part-time: 3:00 – 6:00PM three days a week

Rate: $17.50 per hour

Summer Camp Counselor

June 11- August 10, 2018


The Saklan School in Moraga is looking for a summer camp counselor(s) to join our creative, compassionate, and courageous Summer@Saklan team! As a counselor at Saklan, you will mentor youth ages 3-11 throughout the duration of our 9-week summer program which runs from June 11, 2018 through August 10, 2018. Since being a role model is essential to being a great youth counselor, we are looking for someone with great leadership abilities, a dynamic personality, and who brings their passion for fun and teaching to camp each day. You will be leading the campers in many activities including arts and crafts, group games, sports, songs, swimming, and weekly field trips. The field trips occur each Friday and counselors should expect to chaperone for a full day. Above all, creating a memorable, exciting experience for our campers is out top priority!

Position Requirements:

  • experience with children/teaching
  • reliable and committed to 5 days/week
  • able to work well with children from ages 3-11
  • 12 Early Childhood Education units (optional, but a plus!)
  • be able to plan, prepare, and implement daily activities including but not limited to arts and crafts projects, indoor/outdoor group games, pool activities, sports, songs, and team building activities
  • flexible hours/ aftercare availability
  • cooperative, works well with others
  • clean driving record
