Shelby joined The Saklan School in 2025 as the 2nd Grade Teacher. She was born in North Carolina and, being a military child, attended eight different schools before earning her Bachelor of Education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. These diverse experiences shaped her thoughtful, community-focused approach to teaching. In the classroom, Shelby fosters a calm, nurturing environment that supports both academic and social-emotional growth. She helps students build empathy, self-awareness, and strong peer relationships. A passionate advocate for student voice, she sees writing as a powerful tool for self-expression and agency, and she brings math to life through collaborative, real-world problem-solving. As a project-based educator, Shelby inspires curiosity, creativity, and a growth mindset.
In her free time, Shelby loves to sing, dance, and hike.
