Maria has been an educator since 1996, beginning her career as a preschool teacher and teaching at several schools throughout the East Bay. She joined the Saklan community in 2008 and has taught in both the Early Childhood Education program and first grade. Maria believes that children learn best when they are having fun and strives to create a joyful, engaging environment where every student can grow and reach their fullest potential.
Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and her family likes going out to different restaurants to taste and explore different types of food. She also loves to watch HGTV and the Food Network.
Maria is currently working on obtaining a certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at UC Berkeley Extension.
