Family Groups

Family Groups has been a Saklan tradition for decades and is an integral part of our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program in first through eighth grade. During Family Groups, each eighth grader teaches a cooperative lesson centered around an SEL concept (such as compassion, kindness, fairness & equality) to a group of first through seventh graders. Lessons are designed by our SEL coordinators to ensure that they are developmentally appropriate and engaging. Family Groups are established at the beginning of each school year and work together until June. Not only is this a unique learning opportunity for the leaders, but it is also a natural way to build a cohesive community. Students benefit from establishing new relationships; everyone looks forward to Family Groups!
