Annual Giving Fund FAQ

What is the Annual Giving Fund and Why Do We Have IT?

Saklan relies on the generous support of the community to create such a vibrant place for children to learn and develop. While Saklan’s reliance on fundraising is lower than the average independent school, it is the funds raised through the Annual Giving Fund (AGF) that allow us to provide the many extras that make Saklan the incredible school that it is: personal attention from dedicated teachers, an engaging curriculum, arts, music, Spanish, STEM, and physical education at all grade levels. It is with this in mind that we ask all families to participate in Saklan's Annual Giving Fund.

What is my contribution used for?

Contributions to the Annual Giving Fund ensure the continued health, success, and growth of our school. Your gifts allow Saklan to maintain small class sizes, financial diversity, and provide engaging, high-quality, individualized education by attracting and retaining our outstanding faculty. In addition, your contribution provides for continued program improvements, professional development for faculty and staff, and facilities maintenance.

How much should I give?

Only you can determine the amount that is significant for your family. We encourage you to consider the impact your gift will make, to realize the value of your donation in providing an exceptional school experience for our students, and to make your gift a personally meaningful one.

Why is 100% participation so important?

Our teachers, staff, and Board of Trustees all participate in Saklan's AGF because they believe in the value of a Saklan education, first and foremost. High participation is a vote of confidence and a sign that our community supports all the students and teachers of The Saklan School. This percentage also has an impact on gifts from outside sources; foundations will consider high parent participation rates before agreeing to donate funds to a school.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

Yes. The Saklan School is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Unlike tuition payments, your donations to the Annual Giving Fund are 100% tax deductible, as permitted by law.

Can I PLEDGE NOW and PAY LATER?

Yes, pledging allows you to make a gift that you pay over time during the school year OR is a specific amount you agree to donate by the end of our Annual Giving Fund Campaign. Please submit your pledges to [email protected]. We request that all pledges be paid by May 31, 2024.

Can I use my credit card to make a gift? Can I make a gift online?

Yes. Gifts can be made online, with a credit card here, on our secure giving site. The benefit of this form of donation is that the gift is received immediately. The earlier you make your donation, the earlier Saklan students can benefit directly from your gift.

What is a Company Matching Gift Program?

Many companies provide a matching gift, usually up to a maximum amount, for every dollar their employee donates. Giving in this special way can double and, sometimes, triple the impact of your gift! Please contact the HR department in your company or our Development Office at [email protected] if you want to learn if your employer has a matching gift program.
