Parent Survey Report

Last May about three quarters of our school parents completed a 45 minute survey for an independent consulting agency, OMP,  we engaged for that purpose.  To view a report from that agency summarizing the data generated by that survey, we invite you to click here:

Note that early next week we will publish the October Saklan Monthly, which will contain letters to the school community commenting on the Parent Survey Data by the Head of School and the Board of Trustees—Look for it!

Makeups are now scheduled for next Thursday, the 6th; Order forms for non-makeups are due Wednesday the 5th. Clarification: Class photos are only free if you order a photo package.  If you would like to order a class photo only, you may do so at the cost of $8.  Please refer to the bottom of the order form where it says “Addition group photos” and write in “one regular class photo only please.”

Hot Lunches

If you miss the order deadline for hot lunch, you can still order for the remainder of the month. Food for Thought just needs the order at least 48 hours (or two days)before delivery. It helps their planning process if we can all strive to meet the monthly order deadline of the 26th, but you are able to order after the deadline if needed.

Hot Lunch Survey:

Please tell us what is working for your children, what is not, and please give us suggestions for requests/changes going forward...thank you!

2006 Auction Update

Although the Auction is still a ways off, we are already working hard to make the event a success.  Currently, our main focus is donations.  Thanks to those of you who have already stepped up to help!

Introductory letters, donation forms, donor benefit lists, as well as advertising forms are available in the school office or at the Auction Website.  The best time to ask for a corporate donation to support our auction is when you, their customer, are patronizing their business.  Please help us make the 2006 Auction a great success by asking for a donation to help support our school.  Completed forms can be dropped off with Karen Lane in the office.  Thanks so much for your help!

Now is the perfect time to let the Auction Committee know what types of auction items you would like to see offered.  Please let us know your thoughts.  We will make every effort to fulfill your requests.

Auction Items you would like to see offered

Thanks, again, for all of your support!  Together, we can all make this a great event!

Also:  "Click here: Shopping/Wish List" is available on the Auction Portal.

Extended Day

Reminder - The use of our Extended Day program requires prepayment. Some families are continuing to use the program but have not paid. Please purchase either 20 hours of time for $145 or 40 hours for $290. We will remind you when you run out of prepaid hours. If you have unused hours at the end of the year, you will receive a refund. Also, those of you with children enrolled in Enrichment classes need to prepay Saklan a fee of $3 per class session. This is instead of the usual $7.25 per hour charged for regular Extended Day use. You have received a bill for this if you have not paid. Please remit as soon as possible. Thank you.

We had a magical experience at the Science Adventures assembly today.  Our fabulous presenter demonstrated the difference between acids, bases, and neutral liquids.  Many of our Saklan students were really interested in learning more about the wonderful world of science.  If you would like your child to have the chance to explore more scientific topics, we are taking registration forms and payments for our after school Science Adventure Club until Monday, October 3rd.  This the absolute final day that we can accept them.  We are offering the class on Tuesdays.  The topic for our first session is called,”Extreme Earth.” The scheduled dates for the class are October 4, 11, 18, 25, and November 1st.  We realize that October 11th is a noon dismissal, and I will keep you posted on the time change of this class.  You may obtain registration forms in the Extended Day hallway next to the time clock.  Please return forms to Kim Parks-Carlock as soon as possible.

I wanted to remind our Saklan families that Extended day will be open on our conference days from 12:00-6:00.  These dates are October 11, 12, and 13th.  A sign up sheet is posted on the wall next to the time clock.  Please write your child’s name and the approximate time that you will need care.  Also, I have posted a sign up sheet for the dates of October 27th and 28th.  October 27th is a noon dismissal; therefore we will be open from 12:00-6:00.  On October 28, Saklan will be closed.  However, we are offering Extended care from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.  Please sign up soon because space is limited.  Thank you!

* Please note that Basketball on Thursday, October 27th will be from 12:15-1:15.
