Thank you Mr. Felton

On behalf of Saklan Valley School, I’d like to offer our appreciation and admir Mr. Paul Felton, who only Saturday completed his term as Chairman of the Board of Trustees after three years serving in the board leadership.   Mr. Felton has presided over the board during a time of great growth and change, during which the school’s enrollment expanded more than fifty percent, it earned re-accreditation with a maximum length term from CAIS, we expanded annual fundraising almost 100%, and we added greatly to our campus facilities.  Mr. Felton has led the board with a great dedication to the mission of the school, a strong attention to ensuring the school’s stability and financial strength, a tireless devotion to the school’s affairs (including his attendance of literally hundreds of meetings), and a courtly graciousness with which he and his wife D.D. have hosted dozens of events.  I should add that he has been outstanding chair also in his work personally with me, both in the ways he has supported me and in the ways he has helped to elevate my performance by modeling, mentoring, holding me accountable, and prodding me to be more reflective about my decisions and more committed to their implementation.  Thank you Mr. Felton

Thank you Mrs. Reichow

I do also want to take a moment to express our enormous gratitude and admiration for another in our midst who is herself “graduating” from school in a manner of speaking—not graduating as a student, but graduating as a teacher.  After a career of 27 years in the classroom, our terrific 5th grade teacher Mrs. Sharon Reichow is retiring from her profession, and we honor her for her career achievement, a career marked by the setting of the highest standards for her students complemented by her demonstrating great warmth and concern for each of them, each and every day. Congratulations Mrs. Reichow

Alumna Speaker

It is now my distinct pleasure and honor to introduce to you our alumna speaker, Christine Woodin, Saklan Class of 2002.  In her years here Christine was a terrific student, a passionate learner, and a great friend.  She went on to Bentley High School, where she distinguished herself in as a consistent member of the Headmaster’s List, Bentley’s highest academic honor, and as a member of Bentley’s Varsity Women’s Basketball team.  Christine will herself graduate from Bentley this week, and is headed for college to CalTech, the California Institute of Technology, one of the nations premier universities dedicated to mathematics and the physical sciences, and where she intends to major in math; she has also been recruited to play for their basketball team.   Welcome, and congratulations, Christine!
