Saklan Valley School is proud of its long commitment to diversity in its student body and faculty. We are abundantly proud of our student body: they represent the best of the diverse East Bay, drawn to Saklan from across our region with a radius as long as fifteen miles to the East, fifteen to the North, and ten to the West. Unlike local public schools which draw only from the immediate community, Saklan draws families from much farther reaches of the East Bay, including Oakland, Berkeley, Hercules, Richmond, Martinez and Concord. With a quarter of our students on financial aid or tuition remission, and nearly a quarter of our students persons of color (the overlap between the financial aid recipients and the children of color is small), we are proud of our school’s growing diversity both of ethnic and racial background and of family economic means.
