Sports

Sports and physical activities are an important part of our school-wide goal to develop the skills of cooperation, teamwork, empathy, perseverance and resilience. All students take Physical Education classes three times per week, during which a variety of different sports and related skills are taught. Saklan recognizes the importance of daily movement and its correlation to academics. Students are encouraged to be active during morning and lunch recess times and have the ability to engage in sports activities on our sports courts and turf field.

Throughout the year, intramural sports events are organized for the students on campus. Additionally, we encourage any 5th-8th grader to participate on our cross country, volleyball or basketball teams that compete against other small, independent schools in the area. Saklan 3rd-5th graders also compete at the annual Moraga Rotary field day. With an eye to creativity, non-typical sports events such as hopscotch and hula hoop tournaments give all students a chance to participate in friendly competition.
