Sports and physical activities are an important part of our school-wide goal to develop the skills of cooperation, teamwork, empathy, perseverance and resilience. All students take Physical Education classes at least three times per week, during which a variety of different sports and related skills are taught. Saklan recognizes the importance of daily movement and its correlation to academics. Students are encouraged to be active during morning and lunch recess times and have the ability to engage in sports activities on our sports courts and turf field.
Throughout the year, intermural as well as intramural sports events are organized for the students. Due to the small size of Saklan, the typical sports that are focused on include cross county, volleyball and basketball. Saklan participates in the Moraga Rotary field day and competes against other small independent school in the area. With an eye to creativity, non-typical sports events such as hopscotch and hula hoop tournaments give all students a chance to participate.
