The Saklan School Parent Association

All parents and guardians are members of the Parent Association (PA). Our primary mission is to create a greater sense of community through regular social and educational events, parent outreach, and organizing volunteer opportunities for parents and guardians.

Please join us in building community and supporting our children and their fabulous teachers. Any amount of time you can volunteer is:

• greatly appreciated by the students and teachers;
• a terrific way to meet and get to know other parents;
• a personally rewarding experience; and
• a model of community service for our children.

Parent Education Talks

Each year we organize expert speakers to educate parents about relevant issues in the world of education and/or parenting. Past topics have included cyber-bullying, teen esteem, and nutrition. Join us for the following events this year:

• The Well-Balanced Student on Thursday, September 28th at 6:00 p.m. on Zoom - Join us to hear from Challenge Success as they examine tensions over homework, grades and the culture of competition, and offer suggestions for helping students flourish.
• Helping Your Child Positively Navigate Media, Technology, and Maintaining Healthy Self-esteem on Friday, January 12 after CLAS. Join us in the Pavilion to hear from Kim Parks about Saklan's relationship with The Social Institute.
• Internet Safety for Kids on Friday, March 22 after CLAS. Join us in the Pavilion to hear from Darryl Holcombe, one of the region’s expert law enforcement officers working to keep kids safe online.

Family Fun Events

• Saklan Fall Festival on Sunday, October 1st from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.at the Casita at the Hacienda - Join us in celebrating the fall season. Come for food, fun, and games! Food trucks, baking contests, face paint, pie eating contests and more. We look forward to seeing you there!
• Saklan Movie Night on Sunday, February 4th from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Orinda Community Center - All Saklan community members are invited to join us as we watch Sing! Popcorn and sparkling water will be provided for all attendees. Please bring a reusable water bottle, as well as bring nut-free snacks, blankets, chairs, beanbags, pillows, or other items to get cozy (limited folding chair seating will be available). See you there!
  
• PA Spring Social & Service on Sunday, April 21st. Join us as we work on a community service project to benefit our bay area community.
