I have had the great fortune to practice my profession in outstanding schools in both the USA and Europe. My more than 30 years of experience in private schools includes leadership positions in both international schools as well as independent schools. Before coming to The Saklan School in 2012, I served for seven years as the Head of School at the German American International School in Menlo Park, California, and prior to that I spent 19 years as the Director of the International School of Trieste and the Udine International School, both in Northern Italy. While in the classroom, I taught high school math and physical education, middle school math, social studies, language arts and physical education, and elementary school Grades Four and Five.
Growing up in Toronto, Canada gave me access to an outstanding education in the Ontario school system. My father’s employment with an American multinational company resulted in a transfer to Germany and the completion of high school at the Karlsruhe American High School (DODS). I gained my Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Waterloo in Ontario and my Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Western Ontario. My post-graduate studies were at Worcester State College in Massachusetts where I completed a Master of Education degree.
Besides travel and food, I have a passion for art, music, culture and soccer. I am fluent in German and Italian and love to play the guitar and saxophone. The Bay Area has been my home for the past eight years and as Head of The Saklan School I look forward to many more. I am honored to be working with the wonderful community at Saklan in the pursuit of our shared educational mission.
